History of E.L.C. hostel Chhindwara Madhya Pradesh
Promoting education in the Chhindwara district can be considered a major contribution of Christian missionaries. At the end of the 18th century, the missionaries started school education in the city of Chhindwara. After opening the primary school, the institution established the mission school in the year 1910 -11.
At that time managers were appointed to run the missionary schools. After getting the high school status from middle school in the year 1956, the institution had taken the initiative to facilitate the students coming from remote rural areas. For such students, founded the ELC Hostel in 1968. There was a time when the E.L.C. hostel was full of students from other states
After the college of the institution opened, the hostel was filled with students from not only rural but other states including the surrounding district. There was also a time for this institution on Nagpur Road. Students from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andaman and Nicobar, Manipur, and Bihar lived here. Especially the children of railway employees of Nainpur, Seoni, and Betul lived in the hostel. Students studying in hostels reached many higher positions. Many students also got a good place in politics.
ELC Hostel is located in ELC Chowk Chhindwara. ELC Chowk is located on Nagpur Road. It is situated at a distance of about 1.4 km from the Bus Stand (Mansarovar Complex). A huge statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji has been installed at ELC Chowk near ELC Hostel. Now, this chowk is called Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk. There is also Ekta Park near ELC Hostel, so you can easily reach it here by locating it. This is the nearest landmark to this place.
Present situation-
Now the competition examination and job occupation are staying here. In this ELC hostel with 2 halls and about 16 rooms, now the school and college students are taking shelter less often. While job professions and students preparing for competitive exams are residing. The mess has also been operated in hostels. The building is now old, although it is the same as before. It needs a lot of maintenance. The condition is very bad, the whole hostel needs paint. People should get a good system. It is situated in the middle of the city.
