History of ITI in Chhindwara MP
In Chhindwara city, ITI classes were first held in Dharamshala and practicals were conducted in the society building. The first technical educational institute of the district, ITI, was started in the year 1961. ITI did not have its building at that time. In such a situation, it was operated from the Society building near Raj Talkies Chhindwara MP. Practicals were done in the society building, while theory classes were held at Patni Dharamshala. At that time, ITIs were run in only 16 districts of the state. In Chhindwara ITI, students of Chhindwara including Mandla, Balaghat, Hoshangabad, Betul, Narsinghpur, and Seoni districts used to come here for technical education.
After almost 4 years, ITI was given a building on the city's Chakkar Road (currently VIP Road). The ITI building with approximately 24 acres of land was built in 1965. Initially, only four to five trades were trained here. By the year 2003, it had grown to 16 trades and currently, the number of trades has increased to 22.
Now all three ITIs are on the same campus-
Earlier there was a system of coed education in government ITIs. Women ITIs started here in the year 1999 with the help of the World Bank. Now all three ITIs are run on the same campus. Since last year, women tribal ITIs started operating in the old ITI campus. Now all three institutes have come to the same campus.
4 trades related to food processing-
In the ITI, students are also being trained in food processing for the last about 8 years. The special thing is that the budget is also available from the center for the conduct of trade-related to food processing. From the very beginning, the institution premises have been well organized in terms of the environment. In the ITI surrounded by greenery, people used to come to see gardening, although now the shortage of staff is being told.
