Famous actor Prithviraj Kapoor arrives in Chhindwara

Prithviraj Kapoor came to lay the foundation stone of the library. The ceremony was held on 9 June 1968 at Pankaj Stadium in Chandameta.

Prithviraj Kapoor In Chhindwara-

Prithviraj Kapoor, a prolific actor of Hindi films and who gave a new direction to theater, had come to Chandameta of Chhindwara to lay the foundation stone of the library. The memories of his easy and simple behavior are still in the hearts of the people here.

Prithviraj Kapoor is a famous actor and producer-director. Prithviraj Kapoor has been honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Padma Bhushan.

In the year 1967-68, the youth of Parasia coalfield together formed the Nehru Youth Association. These youths had resolved to build a well-equipped library in this area. It was planned to invite renowned theater artist and actor Prithviraj Kapoor to lay the foundation stone of the library.
To invite Prithviraj Kapoor, the help of Mr. Syal, owner of Syal Ghogri Coal Mines Company was taken. On 9 June 1968, Shri Prithviraj Kapoor had come to Chandameta of Chhindwara.

Prithviraj Kapoor gave the message-

On 9 June 1968, the foundation stone laying program was held at the vacant place near the old office of Chandameta. Shri Prithviraj Kapoor gave the message of harmony of all religions (Sarva Dharma Sambhav) by reciting important parts of Guru Granth Sahib, Quran Sharif and Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta.
In the evening, a musical program was organized in the honor of Prithviraj Kapoor at Pankaj Stadium (MPI Maidan) of Chandameta.

At that time no one could believe that the famous actor and producer-director Prithviraj Kapoor could attend programs like the foundation stone laying in Chandameta of Chhindwara, but Mr. Kapoor came. The youth had to struggle hard to arrange a car to bring them from Nagpur airport to Chhindwara. Later, Prakash Trivedi of Trivedi Kalri gave his car, then Prithviraj Kapoor came from Nagpur airport to Chhindwara.
Prithviraj Kapoor was accommodated in the then CME Singharai's bungalow (present GI Bangla).
This is the old great memories of Chhindwara related to Prithviraj Kapoor which can never be forgotten.

Prithviraj Kapoor was born on 3 November 1906 in Samundari village, Faisalabad, Punjab (now in Pakistan), and died on 29 May 1972 (age 65) in Mumbai. After his death, he was also awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Prithviraj Kapoor played a supporting role in the first Indian spoken film 'Alamara' released in the year 1931.
Then Raj Rani (1933), Sita (1934), Manzil (1936), President, Vidyapati (1937), Pagal (1940), Sikandar (1941).
Among his last films, were Raj Kapoor's Awara (1951), Kal Aaj Aur Kal, and Khwaja Ahmed Abbas's Aasman Mahal. He acted in a total of nine silent and 43 spoken films.
