Gandhi Pravas Shatabdi Samaroh
The Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi visited Chhindwara for the first time on 06 January 1921. It was at this place that Mahatma Gandhi addressed a general meeting. The ceremony was organized on the occasion of the inauguration of Gandhi Pravas Centenary Celebrations in Chhindwara. The ceremony was held at the city's SAF Ground. Grand preparations were made for this event.
This program was organized to make the youth aware of the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. Shri Kamal Nath was also present on this occasion. MP Nakul Nath was also present along with Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Four other ministers were also present.
Jai Jagat Yatra started on 2 October 2019 from the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, Delhi. Jai Jagat Yatra with 50 foreign hikers from 15 other countries traversed through different states of the country and 10 other countries culminating in a 365-day padyatra at Seva Gram, Wardha on 30 January. In this journey, Jai Jagat Yatra reached Chhindwara. The voyage reached Geneva, Switzerland on October 2, 2020. The association of the younger generation with 'Jai Jagat Yatra' on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi shows that the need of the hour is to spread Gandhi's message not only in the country but all over the world.
He said that a unique example is being set by the foreigners participating in
the Jai Jagat Yatra. His participation in the Yatra will set an example for the new generation.
Shri Kamal Nath said that the arrival of Jai Jagat Yatra to Chhindwara is a matter of pride for this city of Indian culture. Gandhi's message is more relevant to the youth in the present times. Adopt a culture of connecting, not dividing; Recognize and support the truth. We have to imbibe the ideology of Mahatma and strengthen the national unity by following his principles.
Noted Gandhian thinker Shri Rajagopal said that everyone's cooperation is being given to make the journey to its peak. The journey is progressing successfully with the love and affection of children, women, young and old. He further said that Chhindwara district can become a better model in the state for imbibing the ideals of truth and non-violence.
Created a world record by singing Gandhi's favorite bhajan
About 25 thousand students of the district, present under a single platform, all together sang Mahatma Gandhi's favorite bhajan "Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye", which became a world record. Awarded with a certificate from the Golden Book of World Records.
On this occasion, the then Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath honored 40 winners of the quiz competition on the life of Gandhiji by giving shawls and citations to the 40 winners. One lakh children participated in the competition.
On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji, to spread the thoughts of Gandhiji, Spanish pedestrian Dr. Harrier Neon of Jai Jagat Yatra being taken out in 11 countries including the state, presented his own composed song 'Jai-Jagat-Jai'. Padmashree Dr. Sunil Jogi sang songs on the life of Gandhiji.
An attractive exhibition was put up in the "Gandhi Pravas Centenary Celebrations" organized in Chhindwara. Which was based on the life of Gandhiji. The display of Charkha by the Khadi Village Industries Department of Chhindwara at the exhibition site was also the center of attraction for the children and youth. During this, children and youth also understood the importance of Swadeshi and Khadi. A short film on Mahatma Gandhi's Chhindwara Yatra and development of Chhindwara was also screened on the occasion. Many school children became Mahatma Gandhi on this occasion and attracted everyone's attention.
