Brief information about Badal Bhoi-
Badal Bhoi was born in Titra village of Dungaria Gram Panchayat, about 17 km from Parasia town on the Chhindwara-Bhopal National Highway in Madhya Pradesh. He was born in a Gond family. His mother's name was Vimala Parani and his father's name was Kalyan Parani. There is no clear information about his date of birth. But, in the available government records, his birth is given in 1845. Badal Bhoi had four children, out of which two daughters were Akbarsa and Imrat Bhoi and two sons Baldev Parani and Ravi Shankar Parani. Bhoi was not his caste surname but it was a respectable title. When Mahatma Gandhi came to Chhindwara on January 6, 1921, he met Badal Bhoi. Thousands of Gond community people under his leadership siege the collector's bungalow in Chhindwara in the year 1923. Because of their protest, the police resorted to lathi-charge. Hundreds of people were injured in this incident and hundreds of people including Badal Bhoi were put in the local district jail. Badal Bhoi and his companions would not do any agitation against the British in the future, after this personal bond and written assurance, they were released. The passion to attain freedom and the fire in his mind against the suppression of the British was not going to be extinguished. He did several movements one after the other. These included the Rail Roko movement. He was strongly opposed to sending out the priceless forest wealth and minerals of Chhindwara, so he stopped the train loaded with valuable wood, coal, and other resources. They believed that the first right on this property belonged to the local people. His struggle lasted for a long time in which his companions also supported him continuously. The British were getting annoyed with him. The British made many efforts to find them. But they failed. On 21 August 1930, at a place called Ramakona, about 45 km from Chhindwara, he violated the forest rights law of the British and forcibly entered the forest with the people and came out with the forest produce there. But in the meantime the British arrested him.
Badal Bhoi was sent to Chanda Central Jail, Chandrapur, Maharashtra, apart from his other companions. There the British did a lot of atrocities on him. Despite his stay in jail, the movement he started against British rule was increasing. At the same time, the problems of the British government were also increasing. Because of this, the British killed Badal Bhoi in his captivity in 1940 by poisoning him with food.
A lot of tribute and salute to such a brave son of Gondwana. In the coming days also, Badal Bhoi will continue to rule the hearts of people as a symbol of tribal consciousness and nationalism. He will always be immortal in history.
